Woody's Sports Academy runs in local schools throughout the community and is a multi-sports provision. We provide a variety of sports to children of all abilities and encourage exercise, development and inclusion. We create a stimulating, fun and safe environment to allow children to express themselves, gain confidence and new skills. All staff are fully vetted, insured, qualified and first aid trained; some have even undergone courses in mentoring and also gained qualifications in class/teacher assistance.
Paul Wood is the founder and director of Woody's Sports Academy. Paul and his team have run successful holiday camps, after school and breakfast clubs, lunchtime sessions, PE lessons and multi-skills clubs since 2001; giving our sports provision an outstanding reputation with invaluable experience.
Paul gained his qualifications and training at one of the world's biggest football clubs Arsenal. He has played for a number of professional football clubs including Watford FC, Chelsea FC and is now a member of the Arsenal FC celebrity team. As well as running his sports academy Paul is known today as one of the leading football freestyle entertainers in the world. Some of his work over the years includes TV advertisements with many famous sporting stars. He starred in the hit movie 'In the Hands of the Gods', is 'UEFA Training Grounds' skills expert and has appeared on ITV's 'Britain's Got Talent 2009'.
"Woody's team have been instrumental in raising the profile of PE in our school for many years, a good team who produce great results".
"Woody's have been going to my child's school for many years now and I can really see the positive impact they have had with the children, especially my daughter".
“We've been working closely with Woody's for over 10 years - a fantastic hard working group of reliable coaches who are very approachable and include all children whatever their needs or requirements. The after school club is always oversubscribed and I regularly have very happy children who can't wait for school to end so that they can go to Woody's".
"Football training is what Mason looks forward to the most in the week, the team at Woody's are fantastic with the children and you can really see the development. Perfect ethos, they make teaching look easy and fun".
"It was a great to do work experience with Woody's which gave me a really good insight into my career choice for the future".
"My experience of sending my child to Woody's has been fantastic, Nicholas is always excited when he wakes up on a Tuesday morning because he knows he is going to Woody's".
"Both of my children have attended Woody's. The staff are great, very energetic and always send the kids home with a big smile on their faces".
"What a great idea this league format is. My son has gained so much confidence from attending these sessions and has now been able to go on and play for a local football team".
"I think working at Woody's for work experience is by far the best placement I could've ever wished for and this is for many reasons. One stand out thing that has inspired me is something what Paul Wood said himself while explaining something important to me: "for me, if I'm standing still, I may as well be moving backwards". This has made me want to be the best I can, both academically and in sport, I now thrive to achieve all I can and try to constantly move forward in my sporting career and with my education".
"I have been attending Woody's for many years, I started my football with them and have now gone on to play for Spurs ladies because of all the skills they have taught me. Not only are the coaches very skilful, they are incredible role models and very nice people".
"Thank you for attending our assembly at Christ Church Primary School, the children absolutely loved it. They have been talking about you ever since".
"Thanks for a great presentation today. The staff were full of praise afterwards. We even had a group of teachers trying out the ball flick trick in the hall after school. Thanks for fitting in with our Be The Best You Can Be programme - you had a real impact. Hope to see you at Woodcroft again soon".
